Ingo Arndt, was born in Frankfurt in 1968 and has worked as a professional wildlife photographer since 1992. His photographs are published all over the world in such magazines as GEO, National Geographic, BBC Wildlife and Terre Sauvage. In order to produce his picture reports, he works on all five continents. Every year, he spends an average of six months travelling. In addition to his aspiration to take the perfect picture, one of his key ideas in photography is to try and make the complex ecological context visible and to record unique forms of behaviour in the animal kingdom. Since the very beginning of his career, Ingo Arndt has specialised on time-consuming long-term projects.
In 2005, Ingo Arndt was awarded the World Press Photo Award for his GEO report on “Animal Feet”. His pictures won prizes for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2007. Many of his pictures have received European Nature Photographer of the Year awards. In 2006, he won the German Prize for Scientific Photography, and in 2008 he was awarded the Fritz Poelking Prize by the Society of German Wildlife Photographers (GDT). Ingo Arndt is an invited Member of the German Photographic Society (DGPH)
His exhibitions are shown in many European museums. Reports on his work have been broadcast on the wireless and television. Ingo Arndt has published ten books so far. They include Logbuch Polarstern (Pole Star Logbook - 2005), Affen in der Wildnis (Monkeys in the Wild - 2007) and Nomaden des Windes (Nomads of the Wind - 2008). |
